Hola (that means hello),
Did you know that Spanish really is easy. One of the easy things about Spanish is how to pronounce words.
You can tell just by looking at a word exactly how to pronounce it. Spanish is very consistent this way.
This is much nicer than some other languages, like English, for instance, where you have to look words up in a dictionary just to find out how they are pronounced.
So in English, when you see the letter a, it might be pronounced like the a in way, or have or lack. See how those three words use the letter a, but it is pronounced three different ways.
But in Spanish, when you see the letter a, it is ALWAYS pronounced ah, like in paw, or saw, or thaw. Always.
In Spanish, the spelling always tells you exactly how the word will sound.
Isn’t that nice?
Here’s another one. The letter i is ALWAYS pronounced ee, like in week, or see. Always.
I can show you these simple rules and have you speaking Spanish in no time. Because I am a native Spanish speaker – and know three other languages as well.
So with your study and a little help from me, we’re going to do just fine.
And you just learned three things about Spanish – didn’t you. 1) Hola is Hello, 2) a is always pronounced ah, and 3) i is always pronounced ee.
Here’s another one you will see me say all the time – and we’ll learn to pronounce it later. It’s the phrase “tenga buen dia.”
Tenga means “have a,” buen means “good” and dia means “day.” Have a good day.
So I’ll see you in the next post and lesson.
And tenga buen dia – Carmelina ![]()
This is a nice post that shows how Carmelina can break down the language learning process in to simple steps. I’ve used Carmelina’s Spanish Is Easy Language service quite often over the past few years when I needed to brush up my Spanish skills in a hurry. She’s an excellent teacher, clearly understands the languages and is pleasant to deal with. Camelina’s Language Service is clearly our choice for any future language needs and I recomend her highly.
